The importance of the mineral industry in advancement and sustainability of all other industries cannot be understated. It’s true to name it among the most important industries needed for survival of mankind and that’s why the world needs to unite in protecting and promoting it. As explained via the diagram, there’s increased risk to supply of various minerals due to increased demand (especially due to technological advancements) and extinction of mines with such minerals. It is important to refocus our sustainability efforts especially for the minerals in the orange and red zones. Efforts must also be enhanced to promote sound management of conflict minerals and ensure the local communities are involved and actually benefit from the entire value chain in the mineral industry.
